Description

Urgotul Ag/Silver is a dressing impregnated with Silver Salts and Technology Lipido-Colloid. Urgotul Ag/Silver is a non-adhesive and non-occlusive polyester mesh impregnated with hydrocolloid particles carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), petroleum jelly and silver particles; which does not adhere to the wound. Urgotul Ag/Silver is indicated for the local treatment of wounds at risk or with signs of local infection: chronic wounds (pressure ulcers and leg ulcers) and acute wounds (partial-thickness burns, dermabrasions, traumatic wounds, surgical wounds etc). Due to the non-adhesive nature of the dressing, Urgotul Ag/Silver is recommended for the treatment of wounds in which the skin around the lesion is weakened.

Directions

Clean the wound as per local protocol then rinse with saline solution before applying Urgotul Ag/Silver. Urgotul Ag/Silver can be cut using sterile equipment to fit the dressing to the wound. Remove the protective wings from the dressing.Apply the Urgotul Ag/Silver dressing directly to the wound. Cover Urgotul Ag/Silver with a secondary dressing. Hold in place using a retention bandage or compression bandage when prescribed. Apply a compression bandage when prescribed. The Urgotul Ag/Silver dressing can be changed every 1 to 3 days depending on the wound treated and the course of its healing. It can be left in place for up to 7 days depending on the wound treated and the course of its healing.

Advice

Treatment with Urgotul Ag/Silver should be carried out under medical supervision. Urgotul Ag/Silver can adhere to surgical gloves (latex). Consequently, it is recommended that the gloves be moistened with normal saline in order to make it easier to apply the dressing. Concomitant use with other local treatments is not recommended. Do not use in pregnant or breast-feeding women, newborn and premature babies in the absence of any specific clinical data. Clinicians/ healthcare professionals should be aware that there is very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver containing dressings, particularly in children and neonates. Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements eg. EEG and ECG. Single use sterile individual packaging: re-using a single use dressing may lead to risks of infection. Check that the sterile protector is intact before use. Do not use if package is damaged. Do not re-sterilise. Do not use if there are known sensitization to silver and other ingredients of the dressing. Do not use on patients undergoing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examination.
